Kurt Naquin is a Houma scholar, storyteller, and community-engaged researcher based in the Gulf South and North Carolina. They are currently pursuing a Ph.D. in conservation social science at NC State University, where their research focuses on Indigenous cultural programming as a strategy for climate adaptation. Prior to graduate school, Kurt spent over five years working as a narrative strategist with environmental justice organizations across Texas and Louisiana. Outside of academia, they love language learning, creative writing, drag, cycling, climbing, playing in dirt, watching movies and talking about them.
